Last week I traveled to The Columbus Athenaum to catch the Face to Face and Lagwagon show. I didn’t really go with the plan of doing any sort of review. I was meeting a bunch of friends and I wanted to focus on spending time with them, but Face to Face was just that good. So at the very least, I thought I could say a few words and post some pictures and videos.

The last time that I saw F2F was at the CrowBar in State College, PA in 2000. AK3 and New Found Glory opened for them and I had a good time watching those bands, but we were obviously there for F2F. I only heard a couple songs from their set and then I caught a boot to the face. There were stars and blood and I remember running to the bathroom. I cleaned myself off, shoved paper towels in my nose, and got back out in the pit before the set was over. Hard to believe that was 19 years ago and that I haven’t seen them since then.

I love these bitches.

I was outside getting some air after Make War, who were not too shabby by the way, and came back inside to find out that F2F had already started. Even though it wasn’t a full house, I’m super short and I was too late to get close to the stage. My girl, Chris, and I ran up fairly close, without being those assholes, and we had a pretty good view.

That was until they started to play my favorites and then it wasn’t good enough. I stood up on the steps that led to the seated area to snap a couple of quick pictures, but then I realized that nobody was asking me to move and not many people were actually seated. So guess who stayed put and got some great shots and videos!

Face To Face absolutely killed it that night. They were just as good as I remember them being 20 years ago and they played every song that I was hoping to hear. I really wish that more people had showed up to see them. I also really wish that I would have bought their kitty shirt from the merch table….Guess I’ll just have to see them again.

My favorite song
