After Face To Face’s set, I made my way to the front for Lagwagon. However, I did not get any pictures, because this fuckboy in the pit thought he would spend his evening messing with me and my friend, Pixie. He would run across the room and slam into us and he was eventually met with swinging elbows and shoves back. I even ran at him and jumped on his back at one point as Pixie yelled, “who dared you to be here?!” Still my favorite line of the evening…
I’ve seen Joey with the Gimmes fairly recently, but not with Lagwagon for a while. The set was amazing as per their usual. I snagged some pictures from a friend to share since mine were few and not great quality.
I only managed to get a single video, but it wasn’t half bad and my buddy, Kurt, cracks me up in it.
After the show, I met up with a bunch more people from my Punks Pitching Tents crew!!!
I took a friend home, made my way back to my parking spot, and started walking back toward the venue. This was about an hour after the show and we saw that the tour buses were still parked outside. So, of course we decided to walk over and see what was happening.
We immediately see Chris Flippin standing there talking to some people. (The dude is enormous and it didn’t take much to spot him, really). We waited our turn, went over to talk to him, and ask for a picture. He was a super nice guy and he really hit it off with my friend, Kurt. So much so that Flip gave him his hat before we parted ways.
Then Joe Raposo walks out and hangs out with us. Again, super genuine dude. He asked way more questions about me, then I asked him. We talked about my 4 kids and my 7 hour drive to catch his band that night. He told me that he was honored that I would go through so much effort just to watch a band play a set. Cue the tears! During the discussion, he also let it slip that Joey was drinking some beers at a local bar and we should go track him down. Ummmm, no problem Little Joe.
We left the tour bus area and headed toward the nightlife area of Columbus. The first bar we came upon was a sports bar called Pins. We almost didn’t walk inside, because it definitely did not seem like the right place. Thank god we did though, since Joey Cape was sitting at the bar!!! *Squeal* Mission accomplished. We walked over, introduced ourselves, and the same scenario as earlier repeated itself. He truly seemed to enjoy meeting his fans and didn’t care that we were disturbing him while he nursed a beer. We gushed about how much his lyrics and his music meant to us and he gave us hugs and told us how much our words touched his heart.
It was a pretty fucking awesome night. I do have one regret that I will carry with me forever. I did not have my #TinyHands at that point of the evening. Lesson learned.
