The final stop in my birthday show saga was to see one of my absolute favorite bands, Bigwig. It’s a tradition to see a band on the eve of my birthday and I hadn’t seen Bigwig in 18 years. At first I thought that I was going solo, but then I convinced my buddy, Dustin, and his girlfriend, Ariana, to tag along and our other friend, Mike, met us in Lancaster. So to say that I was excited would be a complete understatement. I was bouncing off of the fucking walls….well, more so than my normal at least.

After ordering and eating more food than four people ever needed, we headed across the street to the Lizard Lounge, which is technically just the basement of the Chameleon Club. It was an intimate crowd due to the size of the venue, but that was just fine with me. Then I saw the set list and I lost my mind. Literally every song that I would want to hear was written down. We were giddy.

The crew from Bigwig stepped out and our faces immediately melted off. These guys are legendary to me and I made sure that I planted myself in the front. Left side, best side. After the first song, Tom apologized for his blown out voice, but to me that only meant that he gave his all his entire tour so I couldn’t be mad at that.

Best love song ever…..

During the show, I met a girl from my hometown, so of course we took a selfie together. Tom noticed and stopped the show for him and Zach to hop in the pic. Pretty epic stuff.

These guys rocked just as hard that night as they did the first time that I saw them forever ago. Their mix of hardcore riffs and melodic tunes got me through my late adolescence and their set was the perfect ending to my birthday tour.

After the show, the guys all took a minute to talk and they were the coolest. They complimented my vintage Bigwig tee and laughed that they hadn’t seen that design in 20 years. Yup, sounds about right to me. I had to raid my son’s closet for it cos I had passed it on. (It’s mine again.)

If you haven’t heard of Bigwig before now, then obviously that is the next step. Like them on Facebook and follow them on Instagram.

Big thanks to the fellas from Bigwig for making another birthday eve the bomb for me and all the kisses to my friends for once again joining in my shenanigans!! I KNOW WHO MY FRIENDS ARRRRREEEE!
