I recently took a road trip to catch the closing show of The Bouncing Souls tour and took the opportunity to listen to iNCO FIdO’s Elastic Reality on repeat along the way. Since I was confined to a car, my only moves were to boogie in my seat and to sing to strangers passing by. I’m sure they loved it…
The album starts off with the song, “876”. Now, I don’t know if someone made these guys hip to the fact that I’m a sucker for some rocking keys, but I was immediately hooked on this song. Then, they really knocked my socks off with a slamming brass section. I couldn’t even focus on the lyrics for the first couple runs through this track, cos I was so mesmerized by the music created by the instruments alone. Killer way to kick it all off.
A band that is typically known for being high energy brings down the tempo with “Mad Libs”. Giving me a J. Frank Wilson and The Cavaliers vibe, I’m living for it. There is no denying Chuck’s vocals in this one. They sweetly ring throughout this song and the rest of the band compliments them in the best whimsical way possible.
As someone who is only a few inches over 5 foot tall and has numerous nicknames based on that characteristic, I instantly connect with a song called, “Squirt.” Everything about this is crazy fun and each section of the band brings the full flavor to this jam. Not only that, but this is undeniably the best bridge of the entire album and I discovered that it is impossible to fully rock out while wearing a seatbelt in the car.
It’s hard to say for certain, but I think that “Line Dancing” may be my favorite track. No particular reason, really. I just keep coming back to it. Over and over and over again. It makes me dance and it’s catchy as hell. I bet you will think so too….
This album is definitely a must listen and should be added to your next road trip playlist. *Cue the dolphin hand motions out of the window – weather permitting.* Just make sure that you blare it while cruising down the highway. It’s way too fun and upbeat for gridlock city traffic during rush hour.
